Trunnion ball valves are quarter-turn valves that are used to halt or start the flow of a substance through a pipe. Because the most frequent type of ball valve is “free floating”, the trunnion type is a design adjustment. The ball in a trunnion ball valve attaches to the stem on one end and a shaft called the trunnion on the other. The ball is securely maintained in position as a result of this design adjustment. Because the ball in a floating ball valve is solely connected to the stem, it is referred to as floating.
